IELTS Preparation

What is IELTS?

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a test intended to assist you in Working, Studying or Migrating to a country where English is the native language. This covers countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States, etc. It enables non-native English speakers to develop their language abilities and get a better knowledge of the English language. IELTS is conducted by two boards i.e. British Council & IDP. On a scale of 1-9, the IELTS exam is evaluated.

The IELTS listening test is 30 minutes long, divided into four sections with 10 questions each. It includes a 10-minute answer transfer time and assesses various question types through audio listening.

The IELTS Reading test lasts 60 minutes, making it the second part of the exam. It has three sections with a total of 40 questions, including True or False, Multiple choice, Short answer, and Summary questions.

IELTS writing test is 60 Minutes long and is the third part of the IELTS test. It is divided into 2 sections in which you are asked to describe a graph or a bar diagram, write a letter on a given topic/ asking information, write an essay.

The IELTS Speaking test is 10-15 minutes, the final part of the exam with 3 sections: Introduction, Topic Presentation (1-2 minutes), and Two-Way Conversation on the assigned topic from the second section

IELTS Test Format

There are two IELTS test Formats. i.e. IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training.  Both have the same Listening and Speaking but the Reading and Writing are different.

IELTS Academic: It is designed for those who plan to pursue higher education overseas, therefore the training emphasizes academic language and aims to prepare you for your studies.

IELTS General Training: It is designed for those who plan to move to a nation where English is the primary language of communication, either for migration or for jobs. It assists students in preparing for the language skills they may need while training or working abroad.
